UC Journal and recovery of deleted claimant entries

We're waiting for Frank Zola to read recent responses and update the status.

Dear Department for Work and Pensions,

Can a claimant use their Universal Credit journal to:

Submit a complaint?

Make a request for their personal data (Subject access request)?

Please also disclose your guidance concerning removing, deleting or removing from view entries made to a UC Journal by claimants including both sides of conversations between
Jobcentre staff and claimants? And details of how a claimant can ask for copies of such entries and conversations that have been deleted or removed from view to be made available to the claimant at their or their representatives request?

Yours faithfully,

Frank Zola

Dear Frank Zola,

I am writing in response to your request for information, received 6th
December.

Dear [email address] on behalf of DWP Strategy Freedom of Information,

Thanks for your help and the info disclosed . However, can you advise whether a claimant's own UC Journal entries can be deleted by DWP staff such as a 'Coach'? And whether deleted text entries can be recovered
and disclosed under a Data Protection Act Subject Access Request. or whether any of your DWP staff can view deleted entries say for audit or anti fraud purposes and how long deleted entries are retained?

Please provide a copy of your guidance, policy and training material for UC journal use by Work 'Coaches' and whether a claimant can choose not to consent to being notified of new entries via email or sms/text and how a claimant should notify the DWP they no longer consent?

Please also disclose a copy of your policy and guidance with regards using the Journal to formally notify
claimants to attend mandatory Jobcentre or other appointments or face sanctions and how use of the Journal can be included in a Claimant Commitment.

Yours sincerely,

Frank Zola

I find the DWP response, to the final paragraph of the request, less than satisfactory.
