TVL requirements
Dear British Broadcasting Corporation,
Published information appears confusing, so please would you confirm for me the following, within the framework of the FOI ACT?
A YES or NO answer will be ideal...
1) Is a BBC TV license required when a television set is used ONLY to receive digital radio?
2) Is a BBC TV license required when a television receives live programming from stations OTHER THAN BBC?
3) If a TV owner pledges NEVER to tune into LIVE BBC broadcasts (as per iPlayer etc) is a BBC TV license required?
Thank you kindly - and Merry Xmas
Sarah Goldsmith

These answers are already known Sarah. They may not reply, because you're not really asking for recorded information.
1. A TV licence is NOT required if a TV set is used to listen to radio broadcasts only.
2. A TV licence is required for properties where any equipment is used to receive TV programme services (TV programmes simultaneously broadcast to other members of the public). That requirement is irrespective of the channel watched.
3. See answer above. Pledging not to tune into BBC channels does not remove the need for a TV licence to watch other channels.
