Dear Muhsin Manir

Our ref: FOI-1350-1920/GH

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 3
August 2019 asking for Fatigue risk management policies.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of
Information Act 2000 and our information access policy.

We do not have a specific policy for fatigue management; instead we have
an overarching Health and Safety policy. Fatigue is one of many topics
that sit below this main policy.

However, we do have a Fatigue Risk Management System which is integrated
into our Safety Management System. This is an intranet based system
accessible to all at TfL. This sets out the requirements for managing the
risk of fatigue to our staff and deals with things such as training,
education and awareness, management of working hours, managing night
workers, investigating incidents, roster design etc.

While bus and tram drivers are not employees of TfL, we work closely with
the operators to ensure the network is a safe as possible.

First Group, who operate the trams, do have their own comprehensive
Fatigue Risk Management System which sets out how they manage their risk
of fatigue.

We are currently working closely with the bus operators to prepare a
series of Fatigue Risk Management Policies, which will be required on all
new contracts from summer 2020.

If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached
information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely
