Trying so very hard to be an armchair auditor

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Department for Communities and Local Government,

Following the Supreme Court judgement in the Dianne Willmore case, "Willmore's lawyers did not have to prove her mesothelioma was caused by that negligence, only that the council's negligence had "materially" increased the risk of mesothelioma".

This is the negligent removal of brown asbestos from the toxic waste dump school at Stockport:-

I assume that the Council's insurers will not cover this school following that judgement. I presume the school will still open, as the safety of children was never a high priority when they tried to leave all the contamination in situ. I assume years down the line the council taxpayer will be hit by massive claims for compensation for mesothelioma. I want to know how these massive claims (550 pupils, 78 babies, staff, teachers, surrounding residents) will be funded.

I could try the District Auditor but it proved easier to get details of the Trident Nuclear Weapons Programme that to get any meaningful reply from him in the past.

Under Mr. Pickles no doubt written down and advanced plans for looking under the bonnet of local councils and being an armchair auditor, to whom should I take this matter? As you will see, it is potentially millions and millions of pounds.

Yours faithfully,

Sheila

Dear Department for Communities and Local Government,

Anyone there?

Yours faithfully,

Sheila Oliver

FoI Requests,

Dear Ms Oliver

Thank you for your emails below, and of the 11th and 12th March. I apologise for the delay in responding to you. As the content of your emails do not contain requests for information to which the Freedom of Information Act would apply, and as the Government Office for the North West has now closed, I have asked our Correspondence Team to identify an appropriate business area within the Department to which to allocate your emails to for response.

I am attaching a link to the Department's "contacts" page which may be of assistance with future correspondence on matters not relating to Freedom of Information requests http://www.communities.gov.uk/corporate/...

Kind regards

Dear FoI Requests,

Thank you for your kind response but I beg to differ that this is not a FOI issue. Mr. Pickles should have thought his policies through for armchair auditors being able to look under the bonnet of local councils (I hope we don't get oil on the cushions). If they are all hogwash, as would appear to be the case, then he should have had a plan B. There should be something in writing about all this. There isn't - therefore this FOI request has shown up that failing.

I look forward to the reply.

Kind regards

Yours sincerely,

Sheila Oliver
