Enquiries, FOI, United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority

Dear James,

Apologies for the delay in responding. UKAEA does not hold the information you seek. I have tried to provide alternative sources.

Responsibility for the Sellafield site transferred to British Nuclear Fuels Ltd (BNFL) in 1971, and has since come under the responsibility of the Nuclear Decommission Authority (NDA). Responsibility for the Dounreay site transferred to the NDA in 2009. Any records relating to either site were transferred at the time.

You could try contacting the NDA - You can request information from the NDA on:
[email address]

You should be aware that both sites housed civil experimental nuclear reactors, not conventional nuclear power stations, so there may not be an estimate of the economics.

There is an article on economics of nuclear power by the World Nuclear Association, which may be of interest - the link is:

I am sorry that I cannot be of more help.

Your enquiry has been dealt with under the Freedom of Information Act. If you are unhappy with the service you have received in relation to your request please let me know. Our complaints procedure is available on:

Kind regards,

Maya
