True cost of placing a household in temporary accommodation 2
Dear King's Lynn and West Norfolk Borough Council,
In answer to my request of 20 September you stated that you place homeless households in Housing Association properties.
Will you please state how many households have been placed in this way in 1. the first two quarters of 2013-2014 and 2. the year 2012-2013.
Could you also please advise how your homeless duties are discharged... do these households go onto your housing register and if so what band do they go on to?
Yours faithfully,
I Kehunde

Dear Sir/Madam
Thank you for your e-mail.
I can advise the following in response to your queries:
Will you please state how many households have been placed in this way in 1. the first two quarters of 2013-2014 and 2. the year 2012-2013.
First two quarters of 2013/2014 - 43
2012/2013 - 73
Could you also please advise how your homeless duties are discharged... do these households go onto your housing register and if so what band do they go on to?
Duty is discharged by virtue of Part 6 of the Housing Act 1996
All homeless cases accommodated in Housing Association properties complete an application form and are then placed on the Housing Register. The majority of cases will go into the High band other than a few which may have, for example, rent arrears or have been evicted for unacceptable behaviour. These cases will generally be awarded a Medium band on the Housing Register for a period where they are given the opportunity to start addressing any arrears and can show they have stuck to any agreement they have made or in the case of eviction for unacceptable behaviour, no further incidents are reported. In both cases, this would be for a period of 3 months.
If you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Yours sincerely
