Tree removals for insurance or building damage reasons
Dear Fenland District Council,
In the "replacement tree statement" for application "F/YR24/0450/TRTPO" Fenland District Council, as the applicant, says: "This year we have had to remove several trees causing damage to properties in Chatteris due to the soil type."
I am not sure where else trees have been removed, since they will only be brought to public attention if there is a Tree Preservation Order on the tree.
I would like to know, for the past three years:
- The locations of trees removed by FDC due to property damage, ideally accompanied by their type and the date of removal where possible
- How many of these trees were removed due to claims or requests from insurance companies
- How much the council paid to remove each tree (if this can be attributed per removal, or how much the council spent on tree removal each financial year if not)
- How much the council paid out in insurance claims for tree damage to properties (individual claim values preferred, but an aggregate value may be acceptable if the council considers the individual values to be exempt from disclosure)
Since this is a request for Environmental Information, please treat this as a request under the EIR scheme rather than the FOI scheme. Please remember that the EIR scheme comes with stricter time limits for response (eg, limited extension reasons) and significantly more limited exemptions against disclosure.
Yours faithfully,
Lawrence Weetman
Dear Fenland District Council,
I just wanted to point out that I sent two similar but different requests in quick succession last week. They both shared background, about a tree removal in Chatteris, but each request sought very different data.
I have had an acknowledgement of the other request (about risk assessments, etc, carried out in relation to trees at planning application F/YR21/0981/F) but not this one (about the number and cost of trees felled, insurance payouts, etc).
Please could you check that both have been received and are progressing?
Yours faithfully,
Lawrence Weetman

Dear foi,
There were two requests. They had similar contexts, but were fundamentally different. They were assigned different numbers: 10466 & 10467. I have only received a response to one of them.
Yours sincerely,
