Tree Preservation Orders Digital Format
Dear Northumberland County Council,
Is the council's set of Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs) indexed in digital form?
If so, please may I have a copy of all the data relating to TPOs from any databases you hold regarding them. One or more CSV exports would be ideal.
Yours faithfully,
Mr Wilde

Dear Enquirer,
Request for Information
The Council’s Legal Department, and the Council’s Planning Department hold
records in respect of Tree Preservation Orders.
The Council’s maintains a record of all Tree Preservation Orders for the
Council on the planning register. We have searched against the following
criteria to show the records of Tree Preservation Orders on our database:
● Order number
● Address
● Title
● Ward
● Parish
Following your request the Council’s planning records have been searched
in respect of Tree Preservation Orders and the information extracted from
the system as of 4 July 2017 has been enclosed with this response.
The Council’s Legal Department also hold a record of Tree Preservation
Orders on a separate database. In Planning and Economy - Planning
Services effect the records from the Legal Department, and Planning should
be the same, however for completeness an extract from Legal’s database has
also been enclosed with this response.
Please note in respect of the information extracted from the Legal
Database that the “Order valid?” field is simply a tick box on the
database, but this has been shown as “True/False” on the spreadsheet.
Where an answer is given as “False”, this does not necessarily indicate
that the Order is not valid, but simply that it may still be in its
provisional stage, or that there are outstanding matters to deal with
(e.g. that a Variation Order has been proposed but not yet made) etc. etc.
This field therefore needs to be read in that context).
The Council’s Legal Department have also advised that this information
does not include any comments regarding various points on the respective
TPOs which may be subject to legal professional privilege. Should such
information be required than the Council would need to consider this on a
case by a case basis for each TPO that was being requested information on.
Yours faithfully

Dear Northumberland County Council,
Thank you for your swift reply and the information provided you've been really helpful. Specifically what I am looking for is the GIS data for trees subject to TPOs. Often this data is used for a councils interactive map and could be in the format of Longitude and Latitude or a Shapefile.
Yours faithfully,
Mr Wilde
