Tree Preservation Order data
Dear Herefordshire Council,
Is the council's set of Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs) indexed in digital form?
If so, please may I have a copy of all the data relating to TPOs from any databases you hold regarding them. One or more CSV exports would be ideal.
Yours faithfully,
Seb Bacon
Dear Sir
Please find attached acknowledgement of your FOI request.

Dear Freedom Of Information,
Thankyou very much for your prompt reply and the information you provided.
Please could you confirm that the data you have provided is EVERYTHING you have in electronic format? (For example, is it correct that you do not have data in electronic format on individual trees, e.g. species and latitude/longitude?)
Yours sincerely,
Seb Bacon
Dear Sir
Thank you for your email.
Please find attached further data in relation to your request. Please note that the attached is up-to-date at the time of writing. However, all Tree Preservation Orders in Herefordshire are currently under review, therefore it is possible that some of the TPO on the attached spreadsheet may be varied or revoked in the future as part of this ongoing review.

Claire

Dear Freedom Of Information (FOI),
Thankyou again for your prompt response.
Can you confirm that the last supplied CSV is now all the data you have in electronic format relating to TPOs? For example, if I wished to find the location of each tree within a TPO, would I have to consult paper maps, or do you also have coordinates for individual trees in electronic form?
Could you also confirm, are the coordinates supplied in this CSV the centre points of the areas covered by each TPO, or some other coordinate?
Yours sincerely,
Seb Bacon
Dear Freedom Of Information (FOI),
Further to this, I've just noticed some of these entries appear to relate to individual trees, but others refer to maps.
Yours sincerely,
Seb Bacon
Dear Sir
Thank you for your emails.
I have forwarded your enquiries to the department concerned who have
confirmed that the spreadsheets provided are from the TPO reviewer and our
official MapInfo GIS data which is everything that we hold. The grid
references in the TPO data with grid references.csv are of the centre
point of the Individual trees, Groups, Areas and Woodlands.
The column titled Label Field will have references like the following:
TPO_029\G3 or TPO_438\T1
TPO_029 is the number of the TPO. A TPO can have more than one tree
covered by it consisting of individually protected trees, groups or areas
of protected trees and woodlands. The latter text (e.g. T1, G3, A2, W4)
refers to an individual tree (T#), group of trees (G#), areas of trees
(A#) or woodlands (W#)within that TPO.
The provided data will enable you to identify locations.
Regards
Claire

I've made a map of all the trees in the Herefordshire TPO database as of July 2012:
