I have logged an FOI request and sent an acknowledgement requesting
information regarding:
Planted Trees
You should check the following TODAY to avoid time being needlessly spent
on preparing information.
Check that the information to answer this request is within your
directorate service area. If it is not, please let me know in reply to
this email so the request can be re-allocated.
Estimate how much time it will take to locate, retrieve and extract the
information. If it will take more than 18hours staff time, then it should

I refer to your recent request for information under the Freedom of
Information Act 2000. I can confirm that the Council does hold this
information, as detailed below.
Since the 2020 financial year can you publish.
1. All documents related to where to plant trees?
Sunderland City Council does not have any publications/documents at this
point in time which recommend where to plant trees.
2. Long term management plans for planted trees?
Maintenance of trees by Sunderland City Council is explained on the

3. Survival rates of planted trees?
Sunderland Council does not hold this data. With regard to the newly
planted sites as part of the Sunderland part of the North East Community
Forest, however, for the 2021-22 tree planting season we incurred 18% tree
losses.
This information has been provided in response to a Freedom of Information
request and this must be acknowledged in any subsequent use of the
information. In addition, the authority must be notified of any proposed
re-use of this information for commercial or other purposes.
I hope this is satisfactory. If, however, you are dissatisfied with our
response to your request for information, you can ask for the decision to
be reviewed in reply to this letter, however any request for review must
be submitted within 40 days of the date of this freedom of information
response. The review will be removed from the Directorate and coordinated
by the Council’s team of Solicitors. A request for review should be
