Tree Plan of Three Parks

Phil Simpson made this Freedom of Information request to Newcastle under Lyme Borough Council

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was partially successful.

Dear Newcastle under Lyme Borough Council,
Is there a plan for the tree felling in the Borough that is available either as a digital download or hard copy? I am particularly interested in the Three Parks area between Clayton and Westlands. If one is available I would appreciate a copy if possible.

Yours faithfully,
Phil Simpson

Good Morning

Please see the response provided to your request for information

With reference to the above there is no written plan, as such, and it is
not possible to send the information exactly as requested, but there are
some attachments to this email that you may find useful..

Firstly, we advise that you should be directed towards our Urban Forest
Strategy, which is available on the Council’s website under the “Trees”
section. This sets out all of our policies, targets and aims with
reference to the management of the urban forest for the next 50 years.
However, this is a strategy and not a management plan. At present we are
dealing with day-to-day maintenance and little in the way of written
management plans has been produced. So the attached documents is our
schedule of outstanding tree work for the Three Parks, together with plans
showing the locations of individually listed trees and groups of trees. It
should be noted that the plans are printed off the computerised tree
management system and represent maps of all listed trees. The presence of
a tree on the plan should not be taken to imply that we are intending to
do any work on it. That said, we do have a lot of work planned, so also
attached is the schedule of outstanding work that can be read in
conjunction with the plans.

“The information may be somewhat difficult to interpret and it is
suggested that the most appropriate way to give Mr Simpson the information
he may be looking for is to come and meet us in the Council Offices where
we should be able to answer any specific questions.” (Tel 01782717717 –
Landscape Department)
