Treatment of equivalent Level 2 qualifications in admissions process
Dear University of Cambridge,
I would like to inquire about whether or not the following qualifications would be assessed as a part of my (GCSE) profile as a prospective applicant to the University as an undergraduate (for a Mathematics degree if it makes a difference):
WJEC Level 2 Certificate In Additional Mathematics - This does not follow the conventional grading of A*-G nor 9-1 but operates on a Distinction, Merit and Pass system. Would this discrepancy result in it being looked over? Or is a Distinction treated similarly to an A/A* and like one, contributes to the GCSE count.
Level 2 Certificate in Financial Capability and Careers Development (CeFCCD) - This is an equivalent qualification to a GCSE, and is also graded from A*-G. However, I'm unsure if it counts as a GCSE and if an A* is achieved it is viewed exactly as an A* in any other GCSE.
Welsh Baccalaureate National/Foundation Skills Challenge Certificate - This is also a Level 2 equivalent and is graded from A*-G, however, it does not follow the study of a specific academic subject in the same way other qualifications do.
Yours faithfully,
Ibrahim Piracha
