Transport contracts awarded
Dear NHS Blood and Transplant,
I would like to know details of the contract or contracts currently in place with external providers for the transport of blood, blood products and organs, particularly IMT Medical, but also with any similar contract or provider.
In particular, if you can detail:
- the scope and framework of the contract(s)
- details of how the current contract(s) were awarded, including the details of any OJEU, competitive tender, or similar procurement exercise
- when any current contract is likely to run until

Dear Customer Services,
I had thought the points were fairly self explanatory, but I will try and clarify.
I believe NHSBT has contracts with external companies who supply blood and organ transplant. I believe one such company is IMT Medical, although there may be others.
Could you please confirm which companies hold contracts with NHSBT for the transport of blood, blood products, organs, and other things.
For each company, can you please confirm when each contract was awarded, and what process was followed (e.g. OJEU procurement, competitive tender, single tender action etc.), as well as the expected extension, reprocurement or end date.
For contracts which were competitively tendered, could you please provide details of any market engagement, including any documents made available to the tendering parties. In the event that any of the contracts were not competitively or open market tendered, could you please provide the justification.
If you could please provide a copy of the contract terms, save any necessary commercial redaction. This would include contractual specifics around what services are being delivered, and service level agreements and so on.
If not covered in the contract terms, please provide details of any terms or conditions around sub contracting.
Yours sincerely,
O Davies

Dear NHS Blood and Transplant,
Thank you very much for providing useful returns in relation to a previous procurement exercise conducted in 2017 for three years with optional extensions.
What I cannot find in the returns is some of the most critical information requested, specifically-
- which companies hold contracts for this work
- when and how those were awarded
- when they expire
I understand that the successful bidder on the procurement for which you have provided documents may have been Amvale, but that they no longer provide the service, so I am unclear on who currently provides it (potentially IMT Medical) or when any such contract may expire.
Maybe you could point me to this information if I have missed it, or go back to ensure that this major piece of information is provided.
With thanks
A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/t...
Yours faithfully,
