Transmission wavelengths - Weather Modification
Dear Meteorological Office,
I have been studying the practice of "weather modification" for 6 years now and have a few questions with regards to this:
1. What frequency range are the Nexrad transmitters capable of covering? And are these fixed or variable?
2. What control does the mainframe computer at Exeter have over these wavelengths?
3. What information in particular is subject to the Official Secrets Act, as per your sign at the entrance to the Exeter office and why?
4. Is the processing of the computer and related software for these transmitters the reason for the OSA?
5. As I understand the Met Office has control over the Wind Profiler in Paris, Is the Computer in Exeter linked to any other systems or transmitters in other countries and if so which?
6. Do third party organisations have access to the Met Office computer and in particular privately/Corporately owned Nexrads, and if so, who and why? Also, is the Met Office able to take control of these privately owned Nexrads with the Supercomputer in Exeter?
7. Are US military satellites linked to the Supercomputer in Exeter, as well as weather modification NEXrad/systems on the island of Guam?
Yours faithfully,
Paul of the family: Canter

Change in Functionality - Location Search
On Wednesday 26^th November we changed the functionality behind the “Find
a weather forecast” search facility within our web pages. The new search
facility requires a location name rather than a postcode. If you are
having difficulties finding a location, we recommend you try again using a
nearby town or city.
We continue to provide forecasts for around 6,500 UK locations and around
7,000 locations overseas.
We are working to improve our location search and will be making further
changes in the near future.
