The request was successful.

Dear British Broadcasting Corporation,

Please provide the following information:

On what date did the the BBC become the registrant of the Internet domain, a domain which was previously registered to Fishburn Hedges?

Please reply PROMPTLY, as the FoI Act states. Such a simple query should take 1 or 2 working days at the most.

Yours faithfully,

Certainly a request that should get a very quick response!

The previous registration had an expiration of:-

2013-05-27 16:09:07

so I would imagine the transition was probably sub-second :-)

Sir, I'm afraid I don't understand what you're saying.

The registration would have had an expiration date in 2013 (next year!) if Fishburn Hedges had kept it. Now that the BBC has it, it expires in 2014.

I'm simply asking when the BBC took over this domain.

They may get arsey about this, particularly as the information is already in the public domain:

Last Updated On:07-Jun-2012 20:46:27 UTC

Your link shows the domain was created on the 27th May 2002, and that would be by Fishburn Hedges. It is due to expire on the 27th May 2014, an increase of one year over the 2013 that Fishburn Hedges had. All this is straightforward.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but the only other date I can see is "Last Updated On: 07-Jun-2012". Now I have one domain, registered November 2005 and expiring in 2013, which says "Last updated: 26-May-2012". Nothing happened on that day! It wasn't a renewal and it certainly wasn't a transfer.

So as far as I can see (and again, please correct me if I'm wrong) 7th June MAY be the transfer date but, as Sportin' Life sings, "it ain't necessarily so".

Yes you are very right Watchkeeper, I missed reading the year on the original registration expiry.

But I still do agree that this should be a request that should be answered in a few hours if not minutes, but we will see.
