Dear Your Right To Know,

Lillian

Thank you for what you have so far supplied but this is not what I require. I tried to ring you today but clearly the weather must be having an effect on responses so I will endeavour to explain why what you have provided does not satisfy my requirement.

You supplied the strategy policy as to how pavements are assessed however this is very 'broad brush' and states the obvious. What it does not do is show that the operatives making the assessment should be undertaking a particular process. That is clearly something that would be done when they are trained on how to assess any case. It is this training material that I am after. This should then enable me to ascertain whether the assessment process is 1. being followed and 2. is reasonable for its purpose.

I would be grateful if you could therefore supply the training material used to train those inspectors.

Yours sincerely,

Richard Everett

Dear Mr Everett,

Thank you for your email below to my colleague Lilly (dated 18/07/22)
explaining exactly what information you are seeking with regard to
training material.

I have been in touch with colleagues at Essex Highways in an effort to try
and resolve this enquiry, and they have advised the following:

We do hold some relevant training material for new starters that has been
used in the past and might assist. It is an introduction to inspections,
and it breaks down the method to record a defect. (See attached document).

Most of the training for highway inspectors comprises of 4 weeks of
on-the-job training shadowing an experienced inspector.

I do hope that this information assists with your enquiry and that this
matter is now resolved.

Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance.

Kind Regards

Trevor Anthony-Jones
