Traffic Model for Air Quality Impact of Olympic Route Network

The request was successful.

Dear Transport for London,

Under the Environmental Information Regulations, please can you supply the

a) volume of traffic
b) fleet-mix of traffic (car/van/bus/lorry etc)
c) speed of traffic

for each carriageway used for modelling the traffic links

i) along the Marylebone Road (passing AQ monitoring site oppposite Madame Tussaud's at Grid ref.528125, 182016 )

ii) along Upper Thames Street (passing AQ monitoring site under London Bridge approach at 528125, 182016)

in the CORNETO model for
the peak AM hour,
the interpeak (average) hour period and
the peak PM hour on Friday 3rd August - as used for the assessment of air quality impact of the ORN.

Please supply the data for the two modelled scenarios :

A) TDM -10%

B) Base case -ordinary August 2012 day non-Games day

Dear Mr Henderson

TfL Ref:          FOI-1803-1112

Thank you for your e-mail received by Transport for London (TfL) on 6
March 2012 asking for information about air quality impacts of the Olympic
Route Network (ORN).

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of
the Environmental Information Regulations and TfL’s information access
policy. I can confirm TfL does hold the information you require. You asked
for:

a)    volume of traffic

b)   fleet-mix of traffic (car/van/bus/lorry etc)

c)    speed of traffic

For each carriageway used for modelling the traffic links:

1.    Along the Marylebone Road (passing AQ monitoring site opposite
Madame Tussaud's at Grid ref.528125, 182016 )

2.    Along Upper Thames Street (passing AQ monitoring site under London
Bridge approach at 528125, 182016)

In the CORNETO model for:

·         the peak AM hour

·         the interpeak (average) hour period and

·         the peak PM hour on Friday 3rd August - as used for the
assessment of air quality impact of the ORN

Please supply the data for the two modelled scenarios:

A)   TDM -10%

B)   Base case -ordinary August 2012 day non-Games day

Please find attached the requested traffic volumes/breakdowns/speeds as
used for the modelling at two air quality monitoring sites – Marylebone
Road and Upper Thames Street.

The data give flows by hour for the ‘working day’, by vehicle type. They
are not specifically split out by lane or direction, but both locations
will have ‘Games Lanes’ in operation and the Games Family traffic is
separately identified for each link. The assumed traffic speeds can be
found in a separate table to the right of the spreadsheet.

These data were those used for the emission and air quality modelling.
Data for the two requested scenarios are provided - normal August 2012 day
(no Games) and 2012 August with Games and an assumed 10 per cent TDM
reduction. The data reflect modelling assumptions that were current at
December 2011.

For the avoidance of doubt we have provided data for both of the two air
quality monitors on Upper Thames Street (LAQN reference CT6 and CT8).

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable
to access it for some reason, please feel free to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to
appeal.

Yours sincerely
