Thank you for your email received on 23 September 2014 asking for
information about traffic collisions between York Way & Euston Road.

 

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the
Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) and our information access
policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.

 

The data presented below is for personal injury road traffic collisions
occurring on the public highway, and reported to the police, in accordance
with the Stats 19 national reporting system.  This data contains a single
vehicle category of ‘bus or coach’, which includes all TfL buses as well
as private buses and coaches involved in collisions.

 

In the five year period to 31 May 2014, the latest figures available from
the police are;

 

·         A total of 39 personal injury collisions (1 fatal, 4 serious and
34 slight) occurred at the junction of York Way/Euston Road/Grays Inn
Road.

 

·         Of these 39 collisions, 15 resulted in injury to a pedestrian (3
serious and 12 slight).  Of those that resulted in injury to a pedestrian,
3 of them (1 serious and 2    

           slight) involved the pedestrian being in collision with a bus
or coach.

 

Please note that all 2014 data is provisional and subject to change.  The
Department for Transport (DfT) STATS 20 severity definitions are available

Examples of ‘serious’ injury include fractures, severe cuts, crushing,
burns, concussion, severe shock requiring hospital treatment, detention in
hospital as an in-patient and those who die 30 or more days after the
collision from any injuries sustained in that collision.  Examples of
‘slight’ injury include sprains, not necessarily requiring medical
treatment, whiplash, bruises, slight cuts and slight shock.
