Dear Merton Borough Council,

A question on School Streets was raised at the full council meeting on 18-Nov-2021. The response from the Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care and Public Health stated:

"Additionally, those schools located on local distributor roads
would require the appropriate and greater level of assessment in particular with
regards to the impact on the surrounding roads – something that we did not have the
time or the funding for."

Under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act please answer the following with reference to the Cabinet Member report dated 8 August 2020 ( Subject: School Streets–Restricted Vehicular Access -Experimental Traffic Management Scheme) and the Cabinet Report dated 15 June 2020 (Subject : The Council's response to the Covid-19 pandemic)

1) Please confirm if, at the time these reports were prepared, The Downs was classed by the traffic authority as a "local distributor road".

2) Please confirm if, at the time these reports were prepared, Dundonald Road was classed by the traffic authority as a "local distributor road".

3) Please confirm whether any "greater level of assessment" of impact on surrounding roads was considered prior to the School Street plans being advanced for The Downs.

4) Please confirm if any plans were prepared for a School Street at Dundonald Road following publication of the June Cabinet Report.

5) At what point between 15 June and 8 August was it decided not to advance plans for a School Street at Dundonald Road?

Yours faithfully,

Kevin Clarke
