Dear Ms Dalton

Thank you for your request.

I will send the material you have requested - referred to below - via a file sharing site in a separate e mail as the files are too large to attach to this e mail.

Firstly, if you are not familiar with our work, it might be useful to explain that all of VisitBritain’s overseas marketing activity during the last 3 years had been undertaken under the umbrella of The GREAT Britain campaign. This is the UK’s biggest ever integrated international marketing campaign, driving inward investment and tourism to the UK involving VisitBritain, UKTI, FCO and British Council along with the Department for Culture Media and Sport. The campaign was initiated to maximise the economic benefits of Britain hosting the Olympic and Paralympic Games and is now well embedded as the marketing programme to promote Britain plc around the world.

The only year in which we undertook Out of Home advertising in the US and Canada during the last 3 years was in 2012. We advertised on billboards, buses and bus shelters in Los Angeles; bus shelters in New York; the Go Transit system and Union Station in Toronto; and, in New York, the Metro, Grand Central Station, the NY - NJ Transit Commuter Rail system and Stamford Station.

In the print media in the US and Canada we have only carried out activity in 2012 and 2013. In 2012, we placed advertorial in publications and advertised in the New York Metro and National Geographic. In 2013 we only placed advertorial.

The only airline we have worked with in the US and Canada in the last three years is BA and we have run a campaign each year.

Finally, we have run the following Sales Missions in in the US and Canada in the last 3 years:

Destination Britain North America: 26-28 September 2011 in New York
Destination Britain and Ireland North America on 22-24 October 2012 in New York and 25-26 October 2012 in Toronto
Destination Britain North American on 10-12 September 2013 in Las Vegas
