Total Tier 2 ICT CoS valid in each month

Gary Burgess made this Freedom of Information request to UK Border Agency

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was partially successful.

Dear UK Border Agency,

I would like information showing the number of Tier 2 Intra Company Transfer migrant workers that could be in the UK in each of the months from January 2009 to December 2012 i.e. not just the new arrivals or extensions in each month, but the number that have a start date/end date period that includes that month. I understand that the data you hold on allocated Certificates of Sponsorship is the closest to this that is available, but obviously a small percentage of allocated Tier 2 ICT CoS are rejected by caseworkers.

Can you provide the total number of allocated Tier 2 Intra Company Transfer CoS for each month from January 2009 to December 2012 by ICT sub-type, 4 digit SOC and "on a client contract" where the CoS start date/end date period includes that month, please?

A similar format to "Freedom of Information Request - Ref.17651/1341" would be good:

Dear NEYH, Freedom of Information,

I think the data is for:
"Month Indicates Work Start date where either the Work Start date or Work End date is in period 1 January 2009 - 31 December 2012"

However I was hoping to get the total where the period between the Start and End dates (inclusive) includes that month i.e. the count Month where Start Month<=Month<=End Month. For example for the following sample of Start to End date ranges:
Date Range
01/12/2008-01/12/2011
01/01/2009-01/01/2012
01/02/2010-01/02/2011
01/06/2011-01/02/2012

The total for 12/2010 would 3 (i.e. the first 3 fall in this range) and the total for 01/12 would be 2 (i.e. the second and fourth fall in this range).

Is it possible to produce the data for this?

Yours sincerely,

Gary Burgess

Nice FOI request.

The information you have asked for forms the basis of the report they have provided to you, however, it is not presented in the way you have requested. It is a pity they do not want to cut the data a different way and answer your question.

I submitted a request for more detailed information based upon this request which the UKBA have answered.

You should be able to manipulate this data in excel to get the answer you are looking for.
