Dear Mr Swift

Thank you for your email of 11 November 2020, asking for information about
'Total Loss' authority & contractor vehicles.

I will be unable to proceed with your request without clarification of the
information you wish to receive. To help us do so, I would like to know
the following:

Prior to questions 1 to 4 you mention, “I understand your contractor
vehicles are liveried with your logo”

o Questions 1 to 4 - For “contractor vehicles” do you require
information on just those contractor vehicles liveried with our
(Highways England) logo? Or is this request for all contractor
vehicles, including sub contractor vehicles, that have been used on
our network?
o Questions 5, 6 & 7 – You ask for information “with regard to your own
vehicles”, but then ask for information on “the number and date of
contractor vehicles….” Can you clarify which vehicles you require the
information for.
o Question 8 - For “Authority vehicles”, please clarify what you mean by
this. Please also clarify if “contractor vehicles” means the same as
with questions 1 to 4.

Please note that if I do not receive appropriate clarification of your
information requirements within three months from the date of this letter,
then I will consider your request closed.

If you wish to discuss any of the above, please contact me. Please
remember to quote reference number FOI 101572 in any future
communications.

Kind regards

Dear Ops Dst,

I suspect that may be difficulty obtaining data for contractor vehicles - so please ignore this; I withdraw that aspect. You are correct, the request was badly constructed.

If you could restrict the information to that associated with your own vehicles - I am unsure of the extent of your fleet, it may, for example, include gritters, and provide:

1. the number and date of thefts to include a description and vehicle registration mark
2. the reports to yourselves, which will extend to information taken with the vehicle
3. the directions provided to vehicle users for use and safeguarding of such vehicles

with regard to fires:

4. the number and date of Authority vehicles involved in fire incidents to include a description and vehicle registration mark

Yours sincerely,

Mr P Swift
