Dear National Audit Office,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of National Audit Office's handling of my FOI request 'To see performance indicators of de-nationalising a company from a taxpayer's point-of-view or a consumer's point-of-view, or the government's view?'.

I cannot "believe" that governments have sold of government assets, without checking against performance factors.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/t...

Yours faithfully,

Tim Cook

FOI, REQUESTS,

Dear Mr Cook,

Thank you for your email, in which you request an internal review of our
handling of your recent FOI request.

The basis for your request for the internal review is that you “do not
believe that governments have sold off government assets, without checking
against performance factors.”

The Comptroller and Auditor General, and the National Audit Office (NAO)
of which he is head, is independent of government.  We audit the accounts
of central government departments and every year carry out a number of
studies into the ‘value for money’ of government programmes and services,
the findings of which are reported to Parliament.  We do not collate
ongoing statistics and do not hold the performance indicators that you
requested.  Further information about the NAO’s role is available on our
website at:
[1]http://www.nao.org.uk/about-us/role-2/wh....

An internal review in this case would involve our teams re-performing
searches to confirm whether or not the information you requested is held.

With this in mind, we are not commencing an internal review until you have
confirmed that you still wish us to proceed.  Once you have read further
about the NAO’s role, please contact us again if you wish us to conduct
this internal review.

Yours sincerely,
