To know the extent of distress and harm caused to private citizens by the permanent publication of Employment Tribunal decisions naming them

Joy Martin made this Freedom of Information request to Employment Tribunals Service Automatic anti-spam measures are in place for this older request. Please let us know if a further response is expected or if you are having trouble responding.

The request was partially successful.

Dear Employment Tribunals Service,

I would like to know the details of the decision making process which led to the publication of this sentence "Decisions are not affected by GDPR rules and cannot be removed from GOV.UK." on the domain https://www.gov.uk/employment-tribunal-d...

I would particularly like full disclosure of ALL requests for deletion and anonymisation the tribunal has received since Feb 2017 when the publication of tribunal decisions (including settlements) began.

I would also like full details of any process which was considered which would prevent the provision of case details through search results by the use of NO INDEX tags; or of the opposing deliberate decision to make such data available for global search engine processing.

Whilst understanding that you cannot disclose names of the people who contacted you to request removal, please disclose the volumes of such requests, the category types (claimant, defendant, witness etc) and full details of the stated impacts that the continuous uncensored publication of such decisions is having on each person's life.

For the record, I note that I personally know of large volumes of people who have been suffering extreme discrimination when applying for jobs, finance and even housing as a result of the permanent publication of these decisions, even where they are in fact entirely blameless.

I await your early and comprehensive responses.

I also cross-reference this FOI request https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/e...

Yours faithfully,

Joy Martin
