Timetable for the 2019-2020 closure of researchers access to Lowestoft Record Office

The request was partially successful.

Dear Suffolk County Council,

Now that The Hold archives building in Ipswich is moving forward and it's official opening is proposed for Easter 2020 [https://www.ipswichstar.co.uk/news/the-h... please then could you provide the timetable for the closure of access to the Lowestoft Record office basement archive collections.

In providing this timetable please give key dates for when the ability for local researchers, students and academics to order up original archives from Lowestoft Record office basement will stop or be gradually reduced.

Is there a key month in 2019 planned for when the public will be notified about these future plans for access to the collections at Lowestoft?

Will the Lowestoft record office then close entirely for a period of time in 2019 or will it still be open throughout 2019 to local researchers, students and academics to allow them to utilise the main search room collections and microfilms?

Will all the shelves of local history book collections currently in the search room still be accessible to all the public during 2019 and going forwards in subsequent years at Lowestoft Record Office?

Yours faithfully,

Brian Cowper
