Dear Parole Board for England and Wales,

Thank you for acknowledging receipt of my request.

By law, you should have responded promptly and by 25 August 2015. Please confirm that work is ongoing to respond, and a response will be sent as soon as possible.

Yours sincerely,

McHenry, Declan [HMPS], Parole Board for England and Wales

I refer to your query of 27 July 2015 asking for information on the date,
time and outcome of Parole Board panels.

Unfortunately my response is restricted by the fact that the primary
source for this data is a live, rather than historic, database. To answer
your query I have focused on Parole Board oral hearings, due to the number
of records that need to be examined.

We are unable to fully comply with numbers i) and ii) of your query.
Generally, hearing decisions are not received by the Board on the day of
the actual hearing. Each hearing chair has 14 days to submit hearing
outcomes. As such, the data below relates to when the hearing was
conducted rather than the specific time a decision was made.

A significant proportion of records had no start time recorded. However,
from those records where a start time was available, I have been able to
provide the number of cases, with results, that occurred in the morning or
afternoon.

As the accommodation in which to conduct hearings is governed by the
prison estate, you will note that we are generally restricted to running
more hearings in the mornings than the afternoons (the broad ratio is 2 to
1).

Please note that information on previous years was provided in my response
to your previous query of 7 September 2014.
