Timeline for introduction of new trains on Liverpool Street to Chingford, Enfield, Cheshunt line

The request was partially successful.

Dear Transport for London,

I read on the TFL website that the new trains for this line are ‘expected to be in service during 2019 '.

Could you please confirm exactly when the new trains are expected to be in service, and what the capacity and frequency will be relative to the current capacity and frequency?

Yours faithfully,
Chris Old

Dear Mr Old

TfL Ref: 1861-1920

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 21
September 2019 asking for information about the introduction of new trains
on Liverpool Street to Chingford, Enfield, Cheshunt line.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of
the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.  I can
confirm that we hold the information you require.

We remain on programme to introduce the first Class 710 train on the
services from Liverpool Street by the end of this year. However, due to
some challenges, there have been some delays. We are unable to provide
specific dates as requested at this time but can assure you we are doing
all we can to get the new trains into service as soon as possible.

We will continue operating to the current timetable meaning there will be
no change in frequency of service. The new trains will replace the old
trains on a ‘one for one’ basis as they are successfully tested and
commissioned. There will be a small decrease in the number of seats but as
the new trains are ‘open-gangway’ in design with a longitudinal seating
arrangement, there is will be more standing room.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable
to access it for any reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to
appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would
like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.

Yours sincerely
