Thornton Heath Blitz - which activities were undertaken and what were the results?

We're waiting for Graham Mitchell to read a recent response and update the status.

Dear Croydon Borough Council,

Please let me know which of these "areas" were tackled:

Resident/Community Engagement
Deep Cleansing/HOTSPOTS
Litter Bin Audit
Gully Cleansing
Flytip Removal
Graffiti Removal
Licencing
Parking Enforcement
Trading Standards
Highways/Line Marking

And, what were the results of each activity undertaken? What were the outcomes of each of the areas tackled. For example, how many gullies were cleared: What was done to tackle ASB? What did the Litter Bin Audit tell you? etc

Please let me have the results and statistics for each of the areas mentioned for the Thornton Heath Blitz.

Yours faithfully,

responding to you.
Specifically, you have requested the following information:

“Please let me know which of these "areas" were tackled:

Resident/Community Engagement
Deep Cleansing/HOTSPOTS
Litter Bin Audit
Gully Cleansing
Flytip Removal
Graffiti Removal
Licencing
Parking Enforcement
Trading Standards
Highways/Line Marking

you? etc

Please let me have the results and statistics for each of the areas
mentioned for the Thornton Heath Blitz”.

Resident/Community Engagement
The council have been working with the Thornton Heath Community Action
Team (THCAT), who are a group of local volunteers that have been taking
action to improve Thornton Heath since 2015. Outcome was identifying areas
of concern that the Blitz operation could target.

Deep Cleansing/HOTSPOTS
We identified hotspots from Love Cleans Streets data and tasked Veolia to
undertake deep cleansing where required. A significant improvement was
made to the visual cleanliness of the street.

Litter Bin Audit
A survey of all street litter bins was carried out and where necessary
deep cleansing was undertaken using jet washing and chemicals. This
resulted in 10 bins being cleansed.
Gully Cleansing
Gully cleansing was not included as part of the Thornton Heath blitz.

Flytip Removal
Fly tip hot spots were identified using LCS data and knowledge for our
street cleansing fly tip teams. Veolia had an increased presence to clear
all fly tips for the areas designated under the blitz. We do not have any
information available for the amount of fly tips removed.

Graffiti Removal
108 letters sent to businesses to gain permission to clean graffiti off
their properties and 14 approvals responses received.

Licensing
‘Scores on the doors’ window stickers were checked at 77 food premises
(actually by Food Safety Team officers) on High Street and Brigstock Road,
Thornton Heath. Some of the premises would also have held a premises
licence. 10 premises were found to be displaying an incorrect sticker and
were advised to correct. Follow up correspondence was sent to nine of the
ten premises by Trading Standards re the need to display the correct
sticker.
