This is about a ‘PUMPING HOUSE’ which is clearly shown on the Worcestershire County Council’s GIS Map in CRABBS CROSS, REDDITCH.

P. Bladon made this Freedom of Information request to Redditch Borough Council Automatic anti-spam measures are in place for this older request. Please let us know if a further response is expected or if you are having trouble responding.

The request was successful.

Dear Redditch Borough Council,

INTRODUCTION
This is about a ‘PUMPING HOUSE’ which is clearly shown on the Worcestershire County Council’s GIS Map.
LOCATION: OPPOSITE Pinacle House, 632 Evesham Road, Crabbs Cross, Redditch.
Nearest postcode: B97 5LH
I stress it is NOT at Pinacle House it is on the opposite side of the road!

It is a small building, with an open door, and has electrical equipment and large pipes inside.
This building MIGHT be redundant. It looks very neglected, and has a large hole in the roof.
I’ve received a letter from Severn Trent confirming it is NOT a Severn Trent asset.
ST’s Land and Estates management team ‘ have advised on Land Registry this [pumping house] does show as an unregistered asset’ . This team have also said the local council should be able to provide information about this building.

**This request is being sent both to Worcestershire County Council (WCC) and to Redditch Borough Council (RBC)
THIS REQUEST

1. Is this Pumping House on RBC’s Land?
2.Is it a RBC asset?
3.If it is a RBC asset why is this building open and neglected?
4.If it isn’t a RBC asset, who does it belong to?
5.Does RBC have a responsibility to ensure that this building is made safe and secure?

Thank you
Yours faithfully

Philip Bladon

Another complaint has been made today to Severn Trent including: (i) why hasn't a ST Engineer been sent to look at this site? (ii) it is absolutely clear that ST's Land and Estates management team don't have accurate records.
+=+
If RBC are unable to get ST to deal with this potentially hazardous building, then perhaps H&W Fire & Rescue Service need to get involved.

Severn Trent Water have closed down this complaint.
This matter has now been passed to the Consumer Council for Water.

1. CCWater have said they are unable to deal with this complaint. CCWater only deal with problems to a customer's/consumer's supply etc.
2, An Environmental Health Officer at Worcestershire Regulatory Services has said "...unfortunately, we are unable to assist in this matter ".
The suggestion is, that Building Control at Redditch Borough Council MIGHT be able to do something about this unsafe, neglected building,

From PB and COLLEAGUES
1. Many years ago this building was an asset of the East Worcestershire Water Company. In 1993 Severn Trent Water acquired EWW.
2.STW and The Land Registry say it is an unregistered building.
3. The Land Registry is not interested in dealing with this issue.
4. Redditch Borough Council have access to maps showing utilities including WATER pipes which show STW is responsible for this building.
5.If you visit this location, - outside this SMALL building you will see many EWW metal plates on the ground surface which we assume cover access to pipes, valves etc.
6. If you see a STW vehicle /engineer at this specific location it would really be helpful to know.
It would also confirm that the STW's Estates' Management Team in the Darlington Office need to correct the map showing STW's assets. Thank you.
