The report produced by the "Kings Commission into the laws customs and usages of the Dominion of Wales"

Philip Ridley made this Freedom of Information request to Welsh Government This request has been closed to new correspondence. Contact us if you think it should be reopened.

Welsh Government did not have the information requested.

Dear Welsh Government,

I seek a copy of the report produced by the "Kings Commission into the laws customs and usages of the Dominion of Wales" required by Art.XXI of 27 Hen.VIII.c.26 and trust that the Welsh Government would have such an important document.

See the statutory provision in Statutes of the Realm:

Yours faithfully,

Philip Ridley

Welsh Government

Dear Philip,

Thank you for your enquiry. I am sorry but we do not hold the report of the commission you mention below. I suspect that it would have been produced in England as The Laws in Wales Act 1535 was passed by the English Parliament.

You could try the National Archives (https://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/) or the Parliamentary Archives (https://archives.parliament.uk/) - the latter has a digital version of the original 27 Henry VIII, c.26 https://archives.parliament.uk/collectio... and they may be able to find the report you are looking for.

Best Wishes
Helen

Dear Welsh Government,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Welsh Government's handling of my FOI request 'The report produced by the "Kings Commission into the laws customs and usages of the Dominion of Wales"'.

I want to make absolutely sure that the Welsh Government doesn't hold likely the most important report ever produced on the laws and customs of Wales.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/t...

Yours faithfully,

Philip Ridley
