The removal of Litter bins from Norbury (London Road area)

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Croydon Borough Council should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Croydon Borough Council,

It has become evident that over the past couple of years or so that there has been a large-scale, systematic removal of litter bins from the Norbury "high street" area.

As such I kindly request the council to provide answers to the following questions please:

1) Can the council please confirm the reason why street litter bins have been removed from numerous locations in the Norbury high street area (between 15-20 from my own records)?

2) What is the council's view on whether the provision of street litter bins reduces or increases littering onto the streets and residents property frontages (gardens/driveways)?

3) How does the council reconcile the removal of litter bins against it's "Don't Mess With Croydon" campaign, where the council encouraged residents to make use of litter bins and "bin it"?

4) Can the council provide a map of locations where bins should be located along the London Road and any other locations within the appropriate wards?

I look forward to receiving your responses.

Yours faithfully,

A Hooker

Dear FOI Croydon Borough Council,

I understand that a response to my request should have been forthcoming within 20 working days of my request.

Whilst I may be able to understand a reasonable delay due to current circumstances, I wish to inform you that it is now 1 month overdue.

Given that most of my request were straight forward questions that I would have thought could be answered fairly quickly, and the final request was for a map which should be readily available as part of the street cleaning contract, I am struggling to understand why this request should take so long to provide any answers.

Please provide a full response at your convenience as any further delays will result in a request for an internal review.

Yours sincerely,

A Hooker

Dear Croydon Council,

Thank you for the response to my FOI request and the provision of the maps detailing bin locations in 2019 within 3 of the North Croydon Wards.

I realise it would have probably have been easier to request the maps across the whole of the North Croydon borough, so it would be much appreciated if you could also supply the corresponding maps for the other wards which hopefully would also be readily available:

Norbury Park
Bensham Manor
Thornton Heath
Crystal Palace & Upper Norwood
South Norwood
Selhurst

Yours sincerely,

A Hooker
