The Reasons & the Data behind them for the initial Uckfield High Street parking changes that are now being reviewed
Dear East Sussex County Council,
There is a massive amount of concern in Uckfield about the likely changes to parking on the High Street so pending the review I want information about the Reasons & Data behind the initial Uckfield High Street parking plans so we can then see why they were proposed. We will then be prepared and able to see what the review has added to the planning process. Without this I will not be able to carry out my role on both Uckfield Town Council & as a representative of a member at Uckfield Chamber of Commerce.
With this information I will be able to help both bodies hopefully understand why the proposals are necessary, which will be key to getting "buyin" from residents and avoid further time being wasted.
Yours faithfully,
Jeremy Hallett
Dear Mr Hallett
FOI Request ref: 5304 / Uckfield High Street Parking
Thank you for your request for information about the above. Your request
was received on 10/3/2015 and I am dealing with it under the terms of the
Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA).
The FOIA provides public access to information held by public authorities,
It does this in two ways:
o Public authorities are obliged to publish certain information about
their activities; and
o Members of the public are entitled to request information from public
authorities.
The Act covers any recorded information that is held by a public authority
in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and by UK-wide public authorities
based in Scotland. Recorded information includes printed documents,
computer files, letters, emails, photographs, and sound or video
recordings.
Your request does not appear to be a request for recorded information and
is therefore not currently a valid request under the terms of the FOIA. We
are keen to assist you but can only respond to requests for recorded
information. Would you please therefore clarify what recorded information
you would like us to provide.
Please quote the above reference number in any communication regarding
this request.

Dear Freedom of Information,
I would urgently like what information you can supply as it will only cause more problems or atleast queries if it is not available when the next stage of your Highways Dept's Uckfield High Street proposals are made if the backing information for what is expected in town is not made available.
Please can you promptly, in fact urgently supply information as laid down in law about the expected traffic flows to show why/what changes are expected in Uckfield. If a reply didn't reach you about your belief that this data isn't recorded, I would point you in the direction of minutes of committee/staff/councillor meetings about the High Street changes being proposed which are surely recorded & the data presented about traffic flows.
Yours sincerely,
Jeremy Hallett

We always aim to respond as quickly as possible, and in this case will do

required to pay before we proceed in dealing with your request.

following our email explaining that your request was not a request for
recorded information. I have, however, noted the urgency of your request

FOI Request ref: 5452 / Uckfield High Street changes
Thank you for your request for information about the above, which has been
dealt with under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act 2000. Your

REQUEST
Please can you promptly, in fact urgently supply information as laid down
in law about the expected traffic flows to show why/what changes are

this data isn't recorded, I would point you in the direction of minutes of

RESPONSE
Traffic congestion in peak periods would increase by around 23 per cent by
2027 and vehicle queue lengths would increase by 360 per cent. The figures
are based on traffic count data, and projections related to development
scenarios and national traffic growth figures supplied by Department for
Transport. Using such growth figures is usual practice in traffic
modelling and transport planning. The figures published in Uckfield
Matters and on our website are correct. Please see below for website.

the grounds of your appeal in writing to:

unless you have exhausted the County Council’s internal review procedure
as described in the previous paragraph. The Commissioner can be contacted

I'm not what "awaiting classification" means. Hopefully they'll be getting a move on soon.
