The reasons behind the proposed remote operation of Air Traffic Control Towers by HIAL

Scottish Information Commissioner did not have the information requested.

Dear Scottish Information Commissioner,

Would you kindly provide me with the Feasibility Study, Risk Assessment, Financial Predictions and Technical Assessment which the Highlands and Islands Airports Limited have used to justify their proposed remote air traffic operation of the airports at Sumburgh, Dundee, Inverness, Wick John O’Groats, Kirkwall, Stornoway and Benbecula. I believe much of the funding for HIAL operations comes from the taxpayer, and the same is likely to be true for the cost of the technical installation of remote towers, therefore the Scottish Parliament should have been provided with a detailed proposal, and if you could provide me with the reasoning and justification they have used, that would be most appreciated.

Yours faithfully,

Dr Ian Tamm
