Dear Trevor Wight
Oxford City Council Freedom of Information – Reference: 11266
Please accept my sincere apologies for the delay in replying to your follow up question in relation to your Freedom of Information Act 2000 request, which we received on 10 August 2022. Our response to your question is as follows.
Request
Please provide the job title of the person ultimately responsible for the promotion of ethnic minorities in the ODS workplace (original FOI question: Please provide the job title of the Oxford Direct Services manager who is in charge of the push to recruit more ethnic minorities within the company).
Response
As set out in our response to your original request, there is no policy for “positive discrimination” regarding the recruitment or promotion of ethnic minorities. ODS does have inclusion and diversity as a core organisational value and in terms of employment encourages suitably qualified, experienced and eligible candidates regardless of sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, transgender status, religion or belief, marital status, pregnancy or maternity.
To clarify our previous response to this question, recruitment and promotion of staff is the responsibility of individual managers across the organisation and they will act in accordance with agreed ODS policies around recruitment, employment and inclusion, diversity and equality.
If you disagree with any part of the response to your request, you are entitled to ask the Council for an internal review of the decision(s) made. You may do this by writing to the Monitoring Officer, by either email – [email address] – or by post to Monitoring Officer, Oxford City Council, Town Hall, St Aldates, Oxford, OX1 1BX. After the result of the internal review, if you remain dissatisfied, you may ask the Information Commissioner to intervene on your behalf. You may do this by writing to the Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF.
Yours sincerely
