Dear John O'Sullivan,
Freedom of Information Request – FOI2023/00376
We are writing in response to your email received by Post Office Limited (“
Post
Office”) on 28 June, which has been dealt with under the terms of the Freedom of
Information Act 2000 (“
FOIA”).
In your email you have requested the information shown in bold below:
“
On 08/04/ 2021 new CEO Nick Read said this" In just over two weeks’
time, the Court of Appeal will determine whether a number of criminal
convictions resulting from historical Post Office investigations and
prosecutions are safe. Only the Court can decide such things. But we can,
and we have, expressed a clear view through the stance we have taken in
the proceedings. In deciding not to oppose the overwhelming majority of
these cases, the perspective of those of us leading the Post Office today is
clear." What grounds did Lawyers representing the Post Office have to
oppose the appeal of Ian O’Donnell wanting to posthumously clear Joanne
O’Donnell’s name? How many appeals have been opposed since April 8
2021 and what does it tell us about the perspective of those of us leading
the Post Office today?”
We can confirm that Post Office does hold the information you have requested.
