Department for Education

Dear Mr Taylor,

Thank you for your request for information, which was received on the 11
November 2104. You have requested the following information:

In the recent Consultation paper: "Performance descriptors for use in key
stage 1 and 2 statutory teacher assessment for 2015 / 2016", published in
October 2014, there is a reference on Page 5, paragraph 8 to a number of
experts who worked on the draft - "The performance descriptors... have
been drafted with experts, including teachers, representatives from Local
Authorities, curriculum and subject experts.”

I request the names of the experts, mentioned in this paragraph, who
worked on drafting the Performance Descriptors.

I have dealt with your request under the Freedom of Information Act
2000.

To draft the performance descriptors, the Standards and Testing Agency
drew on independent educational experts, most of whom had also supported
the development of the test framework. These individuals gave support to
the process at different points in the drafting timeline. No one
individual was responsible for the final version and some only supported
the drafting of earlier versions. There was also internal work undertaken
once the external support had concluded to ensure alignment with the
national curriculum and clarity.

The experts involved were Pam Wylie, Caroline Cooke, Alastair West, Mavis
Humphreys, Jo Shackleton, Margaret Fennell, Andy Taylor, Heather Rushton,
Jane Turner and David Shakespeare.

I hope this fulfils your request to your satisfaction.

Your correspondence has been allocated reference number 2014/0073661. If

If you are unhappy with the way your request has been handled, you should
make a complaint to the Department by writing to me within two calendar
months of the date of this letter.  Your complaint will be considered by
an independent review panel, who were not involved in the original
consideration of your request.

If you are not satisfied with the outcome of your complaint to the
Department, you should then contact the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Yours sincerely,
