The request was successful.

Dear Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council (KMBC),

Please advise the following:

Does the Mayor of Knowsley, and consort, provide full itemised receipts for expenditure accrued during their tenure?

If yes, where are the receipts available to view?

Yours faithfully,

Dear Freedom of Information,

Thank you for your response to my request, published on November 1st 2016.
I am aware the Mayor of Knowsley (MoK) receives an allowance. However, based on the current MoK declaring this role to be such a "great honour" surely they would not object to providing receipts for all the expenditure* on themselves, or their consort. How can I be assured that the allowance is being spent on MoK activities, if there is no audit trail? Surely, if , since 2010, KMBC has encountered cutbacks imposed by central government the MoK has an obligation to lead by example and reduce costs wherever practicable? Just because an allowance is available it does not mean it has to be utilised.

Yours sincerely,

Wayne Tully

*I am not suggesting any impropriety by the current or previous MoK.
