Dear Richard Smith

I am writing to confirm that the council has completed the processing of
your request for information.

Please find below a copy of your request, followed by the Council’s
response.

Question 1.

When was a decision taken to close and lock Lilly Hill Park Car Park Lily
Hill Road, Bracknell, RG12 2RX at 7pm.

The practice of closing gates and locking the main car park at Lily Hill
was started at the time of the restoration work in approximately 2002.

Question 2.

How many complaints have been received about Lilly Hill Car Park have been
received from Bracknell residents since July 2016.

No formal complaints received.

Question .3

Please provide a breakdown on the basic context of any complaints raised
by Bracknell residents since July 2016.

None received.

Question .4

How much is it costing to lock this Car Park on a daily basis annually,
and is this being Tax Payer funded.

This is part of the wider duties of staff responsible for the management
of the park and is supported by the voluntary actions of local residents.
The cost of the staff and the maintenance of Lily Hill Park as a whole is
tax payer funded, but the closing and locking of gates element is not
separately or specifically tax payer funded and if we stopped locking the
gate it would not save tax payer any money.  Where council car parks are
left with free open access (because there are no volunteers or site based
wardens) they are more likely to suffer from increased fly-tipping /
anti-social behaviour / littering, so any ability to utilise existing
staff and volunteers to limit this is considered a cost saving.
