Dear Her Majesty’s Treasury,

Please could you supply me with the estimated cost of Government wastage of taxpayer funds since the Coalition Government took power in 2010? Could you also include a comparison between that figure and the estimated savings in the welfare budget due to the austerity measures in place during the same period?

Dear responses, FOI - HMT,

For clarification purposes, 'cost of Government wastage' refers to money wasted on duplication of red tape, systems that are innefficient, out-of-date technology, appeals against decisions about Disability Living Allowance and other benefits, etc; things that have had money wasted on them and achieved nothing.
