The amount spent housing homeless applicants in temporary accommodation

The request was partially successful.

Dear FOI Team,

I write to request information relating to the cost of the provision of temporary accommodation to those registering as homeless made by this council between the years 2015 and 2021.

As part of this request I would like the information to be broken down into the following:

(i) The number of people placed into temporary accommodation after making a homeless application, broken down into year-by-year;

(ii) The average length of stay in temporary accommodation after making a homeless application;

(iii) The five longest periods of stay in temporary accommodation after making a homeless application;

(iv) The different types of temporary accommodation premises, e.g. hotel, b&b or hostel;

(v) The total cost of temporary accommodation to the council, broken down into costs per night, per month and per year.

Yours faithfully,

Oliver Murphy

Dear foirequests,

I’m writing to clarify whether the information provided to me relating to total spending on temporary accommodation represents gross spending, or net spending – as this has not been explicitly referenced in your response.

If you are unable to, could you please let me know as soon as possible so that I am able to submit a new FOI request.

Yours sincerely,

Oliver Murphy
