sameen made this Freedom of Information request to Portsmouth City Council

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

Portsmouth City Council did not have the information requested.

Dear Portsmouth City Council,

I would like to ask for a record of correspondence or minutes of meetings with Tesco or its appointed third parties with the council over the past 9 months.

To be precise, I would like to ask the council to place in the public domain any correspondence or meetings which specifically relate to the review of the capital programme by Tesco in light of recent financial issues which affected its share price e.g. investment in new stores on land owned by the company.

Can the council confirm that it holds this information and will the council place this information into the public domain subject to the necessary commercial sensitivities being redacted.

I am very concerned that there may be a delay in Tesco's development in Fratton which was given planning permission earlier this year.

Yours faithfully,

Sameen Farouk

Dear Helen (FoI (ITS)),

thank you for this response

I will close this if the council view is "we know nothing of the review of the capital programme by Tesco" (in the context of the application for land at Fratton Park).

I hope you will note that I was careful to state in my request for correspondence "with Tesco or its appointed third parties".

In the response from your asset manager, he/she noted "ourselves and Tesco " but not the third party which would include Point Estates Ltd.

Can you clarify whether the statement in the first paragraph of this letter stands bearing in mind the request was explicit about "third party involvement".

I'd like to be properly assured that it has not been brought to the attention of the city council that Tesco would like to rationalise its real estate holdings within Portsmouth.

Yours sincerely,

FoI (ITS), Portsmouth City Council
