Tendered Bus Services

Mark Smith made this Freedom of Information request to Shropshire Council This request has been closed to new correspondence. Contact us if you think it should be reopened.

The request was partially successful.

Dear Shropshire Council,
Please can you provide a table listing all services which are fully subsidised by yourself detailing the route number, where the service runs from and to, the current operator of the service, the cost of the tender per annum, the monthly or 4 weekly passenger and revenue numbers for the past 20 months and the minimum seating capacity as specified in the tender.

Secondly, Can you also please provide a list of all services which are partly subsidised by yourself. This should state the route number, where it runs to/from, the reason for funding the service, the cost per annum and if possible, can you provide monthly or 4 weekly passenger numbers for the past 20 months.

Thirdly, can you please provide a list of all services which are funded via Section 106 funding. Can I again have the route number, where the route runs to/from and also the reason for the funding. If you are to provide monthly or 4 weekly passenger numbers for the past 20 months, that would be appreciated.

Please note that this is information for all services which you (or S106) have subsidised within the past 20 months and so previous contracts which are no longer operating, would be included in this.

Finally, can you please provide details of all school routes which the council procured or funded in any way. Details should include the operator, school served and route of the bus, capacity of the bus or where applicable, number of seats bought on the bus.

I also ask if you know of any information which I may find useful in relation to the above points, please provide that too.

Yours faithfully,

Mark Smith

Dear Shropshire Council,
I do not believe that you have answered my enquirys really at all.

Question 1 & 2. You have not provided most of the information requested.
Question 3, I presume you mean that the council does not request any S106 funds for developments?
Question 4, there is no reason why this can not be provided as many other councils have done so.

I'd encourage you to review your response else I shall be forced to formally escalate this request. As a supposed professional local authority, you should be ashamed of this response.

Yours sincerely,

Mark Smith
