Dear Tristan

Further to your request received by us on 28 January, I have discovered that you spoke to my colleague Catherine Goddard on that same day and were given the following information ie. That a procurement to engage a single supplier to provide this element of the AT service has been stopped as none of the tenders received met the criteria required to provide this service. Becta is committed to supporting learners with significant needs to achieve access to the internet in the home, and has been working with industry on a revised approach. New OJEU notices will be released next week for the procurement of these services.

In light of this, please could you let me know whether you still require us to process your request below.

Kind regards, Kathryn

Dear Kathryn,

thank you for your reply. Please continue to process my request for information as stated in my original correspondence.

I did indeed speak to your colleague Catherine, but as you will be able to see, the response that she provided (and which you have quoted) does not answer any of the questions I raised in my original request.

Therefore I would like to continue with my request for information.

Yours sincerely,

Tristan Parker

Dear Mr Parker

Further to your communication received by Becta on 28 January 2010 requesting the following pieces of information, I write now to advise that your request has been dealt with in accordance with the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and that Becta does not hold the information which you have requested.

1. The names of the original supplier(s) of assistive technology package two for the Home Access scheme:

No contract has been awarded therefore there is no ‘original supplier’

2. The reason(s) why the tender with these supplier(s) [referred to in 1. above] was pulled
- please provide details of any reasons or any action suppliers may have taken/not taken to elicit this decision:

Not applicable – see answer to item 1. above

3. The name(s) of the new supplier(s):

Not applicable see item 1. above. There is no ‘new supplier’ as there has not yet been any ‘original supplier’

4: The date that package two of the scheme (both the bespoke assistive needs assessments and equipment provided by the package) will be available:

At this early stage of procurement, no decisions have been made on the launch date for this service

I am sorry that we cannot be of more help at this time and am happy to discuss this with you, but if you are not satisfied with the handling of your request, you may seek an internal review. You may do this by writing to:

In the event that you remain dissatisfied after the internal review, you may make a complaint to the Information Commissioner under section 50 of the Freedom of Information Act. His address is;
