Temporary Immigration Cap to the UK

The request was partially successful.

Dear Neath Port Talbot Council,

The question is around international recruitment. Now that we have a temporary immigration cap to the UK, organisations have to apply to the Home Office to get an allocation of how many people the organisation can recruit from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) in a given time period. I have two questions on this subject:

Does your organisation have such an allocation and if so how many people are you allowed to hire from outside of the EEA? What is the start and end date for the time period which this allocation covers?

How much of your allocation have you used?

Can you give me a breakdown of the types of staff that you have hired in the last 12 months from abroad, what countries they have originated from and their current job title.

Yours faithfully,

Melissa Gordon

Graham Jones,

Dear Ms Gordon

Thank you for your enquiry.

At Neath Port Talbot we have not found it necessary to carry
out international recruitment on a regular basis.

However, due to the national shortage of Social Work posts in Childrens
Services, we have recently obtained a sponsor licence. Unfortunately at
the time of answering this email, we have not had it confirmed from the UK
Border Agency how many Certificates of Sponsorship we are able to allocate
via this licence. We have requested two as we intend to employ 2 Social
Workes from the United States of America into our Children and Young
People's Services area.

I am also unable to inform you at this time as to the start and end date
for the time period which this allocation covers.

Regards

Graham Jones
