Dear Jackson
Your information request (1569)
Thank you for your email of 13 February 2023 which contained an
information request. Please find answers to your questions below.
1. Has the organisation used agencies to recruit temporary/contractor
staff?
1a. If so please confirm the total agency spend on temporary/contractor
staff?
1b. Please provide a breakdown of your answer to question 1a, splitting
the spend by job title/specialism
2. Has the organisation used agencies to recruit permanent staff?
2a. If so please confirm the total agency spend on permanent staff?
2b. Please provide a breakdown of your answer to question 2a, splitting
the spend by job title/specialism
The Crown Estate has used agencies to recruit both temporary and permanent
staff. The total amount for permanent hires is £979,157 (to date for the
current business year) and the breakdowns for these roles are provided
below in an annex to this response. This includes job levels as well as
details of the area of the business to which roles were recruited.
However, we are unfortunately unable to provide a verified figure for
spending on recruitment of contractors and a related breakdown. This is
because the cost exemption at section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act
2000 is engaged. This is because our systems do not organise information
in a way that would allow us to extract this information easily; as a
result, we would need to spend a significant amount of time reviewing and
cross-comparing the information we hold, such that the cost exemption is
engaged. However, we hope that the information we have provided on
permanent recruitment are of some help to you and we would be happy to
consider any further questions you have in this area.
3. The contact name of the person responsible for dealing with permanent
recruitment?
4. The contact name of the person responsible for dealing with
temporary/contractor recruitment?
There is not one person who is responsible for permanent and temporary
recruitment, however, you can contact our team using the following email
address: [1][email address]. You can also access our recruitment microsite
at the following address: [2]Welcome to our career site - The Crown
Estate (teamtailor.com)
I hope this response is helpful. However, if you are not satisfied with
the way we have handled your information request, you may appeal our
decision which will then be investigated through an internal review. You
may request an internal review within 40 working days from today’s date.
If you are not content with the outcome of such a review, you have the
right to refer any complaint directly to the ICO (contact details are
available at: [3]www.ico.org.uk). The ICO will usually expect you to have
first exhausted our own complaints procedure before raising any concerns
with them.
Yours sincerely
