Good afternoon, Mr Grimes

Many thanks for your FOI enquiry which has been forwarded to me for
attention.  I am able to provide a response to some of the questions you
have raised, but will require clarification on some issues in order to
provide you with a response to other elements of your enquiry.  I have
outlined this below, as follows:-

1>    How much money did the Council spend on temporary agency staff for
the financial year 13/14?

The Council spent a total of £30,629 during 2013/14 financial on agency
staff, as reported in our Abstract of Accounts for 2013/14.

2>    What formal arrangements are in place with regards to temporary
agency staffing?

I would be grateful if you could clarify what this question specifically
relates to and what information you require.

Pending receipt of clarification from you regarding this question, I would
advise that the Council uses recruitment agencies on a minimal basis, and
does not as a result award an annual contract or appoint a specific agency
as its main supplier.  The Council’s preference is to carry out
recruitment in-house rather than to use agencies where possible; however,
each recruitment need is considered on a case-by-case basis and decisions
taken accordingly as to how to proceed with recruitment.

3>    What was the off contract spend?

As outlined above, Banbridge District Council does not carry out an annual
tender process, and does not award any contracts in relation to use of
recruitment agencies.  The total spend on agency staff is as outlined at
question 1 above.

4>    What is the highest category of spend?
I would be grateful if you could clarify what this question specifically
relates to and what information you require.

5>    When is the contract up for renewal/review?
As outlined at point 3 above, Banbridge District Council does not carry
out an annual tender process, and does not award any contracts in relation
to use of recruitment agencies.

I hope the above information is useful, and will be happy to fully respond
to questions 2 and 4 above upon receipt of clarification from you.

Regards

Deborah Kelly
