Further to our earlier communication the University seeks clarification on your request for information in relation to the Council's business activity.

The Council is the governing body of the University. It has general control over the conduct of the University's affairs and is responsible for the management of its revenue, staff, property and health and safety. Specifically the Council has adopted a Statement of Primary Responsibilities which may be viewed via the following link: http://www.ulster.ac.uk/secretary/secret... For the sake of clarity please advise when you refer to Council do you mean the University's Human Resources function.

I shall await your response prior to proceeding further with this freedom of information request.

Further to your recent request for information under the provisions of the
Freedom of Information Act please be advised that the University of Ulster
has responded to your questions in the order in which you set them out:

 

1.     How much money did the Council spend on temporary agency staff for
the financial year 13/14?
The University of Ulster spent £26,776 on temporary agency staff for the
financial year 13/14.

2.     What formal arrangements are in place with regards to temporary
agency staffing?
With regard to temporary agency staffing please see attached Terms and
Conditions of Business.

3.     What was the off contract spend?
The University of Ulster’s off contract spend was £0.

4.     What is the highest category of spend?
The University of Ulster’s highest category of spend was Clerical Support
Staff.

5.     When is the contract up for renewal/review?
With regard to this question, it is not clear what contract you are
referring to. The University does not have a sole supplier contract with
any one Recruitment Agency.  Contracts are offered for the duration of the
engagement to suppliers on the University’s approved supplier list.

 

If you are unhappy with how we have dealt with your Freedom of Information
(FOI) request you may raise the matter under the University's internal
review process for FOI requests.  Please submit written details of your
appeal to Mr Eamon Mullan, University Secretary, Room J313, University of
Ulster, Coleraine BT52 1SA.  The University will normally undertake to
issue a decision on an appeal within 20 working days of receipt.
