FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 – TEMPORARY AGENCY SPEND
IN SCHOOLS
Thank you for contacting Worcestershire County Council.
Your request:
I am interested in the amounts paid by all Primary and Secondary
Schools plus all SEN Schools and Pupil Referral Unit/Short stay schools
in Worcestershire LEA to third parties in relation to temporary agency
staffing cover. My hope is to receive an electronic breakdown of
amounts paid through the department's purchase ledger by school for
Sept to Dec 2012.
Please can you supply the following information in an excel spreadsheet
format:-
School Name URN or DFE number agency/supplier name total amount paid
Unfortunately your request cannot be met because a legal exemption applies.
The legal exemption that applies is Section 12.
Section 12 of the Act makes provision for public authorities to refuse requests for
information where the cost of dealing with them would exceed the appropriate
limit as defined by the Freedom of Information and Data Protection (Appropriate
Limit and Fees) Regulations 2004, which for local authorities is set at £450, or
18 hours of staff time spent.
To comply with your request would require us to check through the ledgers for
each school which, in this case, would take an estimated 52 hours. The estimate
has been arrived at based on the following:

schools x 208 schools = 52 hours (This is a very conservative estimate and
