Dear Mr Rymer

Freedom of Information request:  FOI-54796

Thank you for your request dated 20 August 2021

Our response is as follows:

Please can you provide to me:

1. A summary of spend by your authority on temporary accommodation for
2019/20 and 2020/21, itemised by supplier and with overall totals for both
years. Please also include totals by type of spend (i.e. overnight
accommodation, private agencies etc).

Please see the attached spreadsheet. Tabs 1 and 2 summarise the total
spent on emergency overnight accommodation over the last two financial
years. Please note that, this is for accommodation paid for on an
overnight basis only. These properties are provided by agents who manage
properties on behalf of other landlords.

2. How much of the spend related to Covid-19, and for which suppliers.

Please see Tab 3 of the attached spreadsheet. This summarises the cost of
accommodation for those affected by the impact of the COVID 19 pandemic.
This includes Rough Sleepers who have been placed in accommodation,
applicants who were placed in Hotel accommodation (as we lacked other
available accommodation due to the impact of the pandemic), and finally,
additional expenditure incurred due to those who approached because they
were fleeing domestic violence.

Please note that the costs would have been largely covered by housing
benefit and/or rent paid by the applicant. The council can, however, make
a claim to Central Government for any amounts left outstanding.

If you have any queries about this correspondence, please contact me,
quoting the reference number above.

If you are not satisfied with our response to your request, you can ask
for an Internal Review.  Internal review requests must be submitted within
two months of the date of receipt of the response to your original
request.  If you wish to do this, please contact us in writing, setting
out why you are dissatisfied.

If you are not satisfied with the outcome of the Internal Review, you may
apply directly to the Information Commissioner (ICO) for a decision.
Generally, the ICO cannot make a decision unless you have exhausted the
Internal Review procedure provided by the Council. You can contact the ICO
by emailing [1][email address], or by post at Customer Contact,
Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow,
SK9 5AF.

Yours sincerely,
