Dear Croydon Borough Council,

1) How many properties do you currently have on Temporary Accommodation?

3) Please provide us with a link to the council spending documents where you record how much you pay to suppliers for each month of the year 2024. Also, please advise on how we can filter the documents so that we can easily identify suppliers of accommodation.

4)Who are your largest 20 suppliers and how much do you pay them on average every month and provide the last 3 months they have invoiced you for?

5) If we were to supply accommodation on this basis, please can you give us the names and direct contact numbers of the relevant people within the procurement team to have an initial meeting with, in the event that we have a suitable property that meets your needs.

Yours faithfully,

R Trevon

Dear R Trevon

Request FOI/11627

Further to your request received on 28/01/2025, I confirm that the Council
has now considered your request under the Freedom of Information Act
2000. For ease of reference, I will now address each of your questions in
turn.

1) How many properties do you currently have on Temporary Accommodation?

3600

2) Please can you advise us on the maximum that is paid per night for a
Studio, 1 Bed, 2 Bed, 3 Bed & 4 Bed.

Rates are regularly reviewed and are subject to change at any time. The
current rates are:

Studio - £30-40
1 bed - £50 -65
2 bed - £70 – 80
3 bed - £75 -90
4 bed - £95-115

3) Please provide us with a link to the council spending documents where
you record how much you pay to suppliers for each month of the year 2024.
Also, please advise on how we can filter the documents so that we can
easily identify suppliers of accommodation.

The Council considers the breakdown of cost information requested to be
commercially sensitive information and covered by the exemption provided
in Section 43 of Freedom of Information Act.  This exemption applies to
information which if disclosed would, or would be likely to, prejudice the
commercial interests of any person, including the Council.

It is important to remember that when information is released under the
Freedom of Information Act 2000, it is considered released to the wider
public. In deciding whether to apply this exemption the Council is
expected to balance the public interest test in withholding the
information against the public interest in disclosing the information.

Although there is always a clear case for transparency of council spend
and in informing the public how the council allocates taxpayer’s
resources, the information is considered, by the Council, to be
commercially sensitive as its disclosure would, or would be likely to,
prejudice the commercial interests of the Council, as it is considered
that if the information is disclosed to you it could potentially weaken
the Council ability to obtain value for money in respect of any future
purchases of this type.

However, we can confirm that the the net spend on TA cost was £48M for
23/24.

4) Who are your largest 20 suppliers and how much do you pay them on
average every month and provide the last 3 months they have invoiced you
for?

Caridon
Cromwood
Smartspace
London Hotel Group
Abled Living
County Rents
Gani Properties
Homes- to -let Ltd
Aurora Assets
Denhan International
After5Services
J&M Oasis
Hyde & Rowe

Sunshine Estates
FC Capital Ltd
ADKHousing
CountyRents Ltd
ZFA Group

In terms of cost breakdowns, we are unable to provide financial
information due to the commercial sensitivity as outlined above.

5) If we were to supply accommodation on this basis, please can you give
us the names and direct contact numbers of the relevant people within the
procurement team to have an initial meeting with, in the event that we
have a suitable property that meets your needs.
